FOP
obsolete : a foolish or silly person
: a man who is devoted to or vain about his appearance or dress. A coxcomb, dandy.
Digging around in the dark corners of my sketchbook, I found this great little sketch I made in 2011. At the time, I think I had just introduced the concept of a “fop” to my friend, who had never heard the word before. Fop is an old-fashioned word for a young, vain man… one who is really pretty and dressed to the nines. He’d probably be wearing ruffles and powedered wigs and such. Kinda like a dandy… and also most likely gay.
Anywho, my friend found this word hilarious, and I eventually drew this little character.
May I introduce Lord Foppington, the Fopbelly Pig.

He’s the best, I want a Lord Foppington children s book and TV show. He reminds me of a high class shirtcocker, but maybe leave that out of the children’s series.
